30th July, Kuala Lumpur – at one of the capitals prestigious centres, Tropicana Resort Clubhouse, the Malaysian company for education “Russian resource”, the RCSC and the Embassy of the Russian Federation organized a grand graduation event for yet another batch of Malaysian students who had completed a 6-year course at the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy. The panel of over 2000 Malaysian doctors who receives their degrees in Russia has increased by another 62 young specialists.
The Grand Ballroom was filled to excess. Relatives, friends and colleagues all came to congratulate the young doctors. Also present was an association of past NNSMA graduates who had come to welcome their new fellow alumni.
The diplomas were presented to the graduates by the embassy’s Counseling Minister P.E. Ambarov, who greeted and conversed with them during the exchange in Russian.
In his opening speech, Mr. Teoh Seng Lee, who is the general director of “Russian resources” and the Honorary Consul of Russia in Penang, gave a word of thanks to Russia for its significant contribution in preparing Malaysian health personnel. According to the Malaysian governments’ official figures, Russia would have prepared up to four thousand doctors for this country by 2015.
The director of the RCSC M.Y. Popov congratulated the fresh graduates and noted the steady increase in interest among Malaysians towards obtaining higher education in Russia. At this given moment, in addition to Malaysian doctors, Russian universities likewise prepare aviation engineers and navigators. A lot of enquiries have also been made on Russian architectural and art institutes. Many of today’s graduates are no strangers to the Russian cultural centre as they had constantly visited it to seek help or advice.
In accordance with the traditions of Russian universities, the current batch does have its top achievers – those who hold a Red diploma. The graduates expressed their heartfelt thanks to Russia, as well as their Russian teachers and friends for helping them realize their dream – to become a doctor.
Not forgotten was the cultural program – the graduates had prepared musical numbers, video clips of Nizhny Novgorod, and a slideshow on the life of Malaysian students (over three hundred of them) who are currently residing in that city.
